 More about me...

Here's to hoping....

posted on May 2, 2007 (modified on May 2, 2007)

I am the mother of a wonderful two year old and engaged to an equally wonderful man.  We just closed on our first home, and we love it.  We were living in a tiny one bedroom apartment, and my daughter slept in the dining room, which also happened to be the office.  We went from having no room what so ever to wondering how to fill all the space in our new house.  Dahlia loves having her own room!  After the past few years of my life, I finally feel as if I just might make it after all.

Now to the problem--right before we closed, I lost my full time position, in which I was making about $1600 a month, and my fiance is about to receive a cut in pay.  I threw myself into the job market as soon as I lost my job, but so far I have only found part time jobs that don't even pay half of what I used to make.  Our first payment is due in one month.  However, we don't even have the money to make do right now and are at our wit's end over it.  I, personally, have debt that was formed before I met my fiance, back when I was in a very unhealthy relationship.  I made several bad choices and did many things that I am not proud of.  I really want to get my life turned back around and start repairing all the damage I have done...I have been given that chance, but now it is slipping away I am going to do all I can to hold on to it.

I don't want people to send me free money or anything like that....(although, if you really want to, I'm no fool...I'll gladly accept it and try to repay you in some way!!!)  What I want is some advice, or an opportunity.  I know that I have talent that just needs a place to grow.  I know my fiance is intelligent, hardworking, and a wonderful person (he took on me and my infant daughter, pledging to be her father and all, after having only been with me a couple months!  And after all this time, he's still here...).  If anyone has been in a similar situation and has some suggestions, let me have them!!!  If anyone can offer him a job that pays well, let me know--he will receive his associates in business in October, and is currently a sales rep for a food distributor.  If anyone has some work for me, let me know--I have experience in data entry, customer service, groundskeeping, retail, food service, some horse grooming experience, theatre, several types of artistic endeavors, writing poetry and stories, sewing, and I specialize in photography.  Either of us are open to doing new things and would love to have a chance to really make something of ourselves, and keep our house for our little girl....and my dog....

You may want to check with your local employment agency. See if there are any options for you. Depending on your profession, you may just be looking in the wrong places. Another option is to use a temporary firm. Although the assignments are temporary, you can request full-time, long-term assignments. Mortgage companies do not like to foreclose on homes because most of the time they lose money on the deal so talk to your mortgage company and try to work out something. Just be honest about your situation and they may try to work something out with you. I know it's difficult but keep pushing forward and find strength in the love of your family.
